Juan and Titan were happy before distance came between them.

Scratch it. They were the happiest. For the longest time they could have remembered, they were happy together. So happy, yet so scared.

Titan met Juan when both were in college, for degrees they couldn’t get a grasp of. It took both a simple talk and a catalyst named Raine to make them feel like they have known each other for so long. The recklessness of being a youth who lives far away from home was something they both had in common. The freedom that carries a longing for warmth attached both securely, through everything life could possibly offer. From gains and losses, laughs and cries, brightest and darkest days, even to birth and death; they both went through those all together. They were happy because they had each other’s back no matter how hard the pain they had endured. Titan was always the home Juan missed coming back to and Juan was always the one who provided warmth of a familiarity for Titan.

Hence why, both were scared of losing each other.

Juan was the first person who came into Titan’s mind when he felt like he lost himself. When nothing could explain his feelings nor conditions, Juan was always there to calm his mind down and sort his thoughts. Never once in the meantime both were together Juan was unavailable for Titan. He was always there. Other than being the warmth Titan looked for in a foreign place, Juan also felt like he is home with Titan. Home doesn’t have to be safe and sound all the time for him – sometimes it needs some care and attention to its detail. Some parts needed to be taken care of to maintain the comfort it offers, and Juan definitely didn’t mind to do so. He willingly did everything to keep Titan standing strong by his side. And he succeeded.

Many called them lovers. The only ones who didn’t call them as one were themselves. Love took too many precautions and risks. And both were so in love to the point they couldn’t imagine the consequences of losing each other.

Yet they did.

One has to be away and left another, leaving him all by himself to think how unfair the world is for detaching him from the one who’s keeping him alive. Betrayed and hurt, he tried to accept the fate of his own. Being left alone without any love to spare or spoken. The day one found out he was indeed alone was the day he decided that there’s no such thing as hope for him. Everything went to shambles and no one was there to make sure about his wellbeing.

Juan and Titan were happy before. They were the happiest. But that is the problem with their story.

They aren’t happy now.
